The Ü-F Renaissance.

Our client told us: "I like gold and purple. The rest is up to you".

Nothing terrifies a creative mind like an open brief and this was a tough one.

Until, it occurred to me that, purple and gold were the colours of Lorenzo De' Medici - the man who almost single-handedly kick started the Italian Renaissance - and of his city, Florence:  a gold lily on a purple field.

The Ü-F Renaissance body shape, contour, its uniquely sculptured back, the cavity design, the inlays, the silky looking flames on the maple top and neck laminate were all inspired by this concept. Lorenzo's own words, the first verse of his poem Trionfo, are engraved at the back of the neck.

The Ü-F Ludus Bassi II.

For his Ü-F project our client wanted to blend our fretless-only MüB-F and its sleek, unapologetic design with classic MüB-G elegance.

Every detail has been redesigned, down to the electronic cavity.

The wood choice is exquisite and beautifully subdued.

A 6lbs light beauty filled up with a huge tone palette.

The Ü-F 5 Delfino

This is an interesting case history, a true Custom Like No Other tale.

The Delfino, an instrument inspired by the famous Stradivari violin,  was originally built as a 6 stringer with exposed p-ups, standard bridge etc. Gorgeous instrument in its own right. It sold in a heartbeat.

But then the owner asked if we were open to turn the Delfino into a 5er and added a long list of modifications. True to form our answer was a resounding YES!

Convert a 6 stringer to 5er on a Set-Through neck construction; machine custom brass hardware; find ways to minimize the metal visual impact, replace all acrylic parts with matching wood. All that on a finished instrument. Who in their right mind would do such a thing?

The result, right here for you to see, should speak for itself.

The Ü-F6 Myrtle

This bass is something else. Forget about the so-beautiful-it-hurts Myrtle top. Or walnut body with a gorgeous 5A roasted, flamed maple neck.
The huge, grain-matched, exposed poles p-up casing houses three custom made p-ups, each wired to its individual vol/tone control pots.

The full Cavo construction is a joy to just look at and give the instrument the vintage, yet
incisive tone his owner was looking for.

Many small modifications to the body design had to be made to make this build possible. And, lest we forget, check the grain-matched wooden knobs.

The Ü-F5  Flame

Starting from the X3M design, we added a headstock - for the first time ever to this design; increased the scale length to a custom 32"; added a full Cavo construction and increased the body thickness.

The  wood combo is exquisite. What might look like flamed maple is in fact a 5A flamed European ash. Neat.
The top was re-sawn from the same billet as the body to achieve grain continuity.

Ebony board over a graphite reinforced 5A roasted curly maple neck. The back laminate is blackwood ebony of the finest grade; Lastly, hand rubbed, silky smooth finish wraps it all up
. This bass sports an almost vintage- like tone with 'air' and detail. It's a joy to play and is very light at 7lbs.

The Ü-F Giant.

Quite literally, our client's brief was: Make me a HUGE 26 fret, 35" scale G6 SC that sounds even bigger than it looks.

No, really.

So. Well. We enlarged the body, made it thicker, longer; added the full Cavo construction style, reworked the ergonomics, ensured full access to the last fret, added plenty space in the leg rest area and a thicker-than-usual neck profile. All wrapped up in sexy high gloss purple finish top and satin back. Naturally, gold hardware.

Surprisingly light for its size, this MüB features a superb semi-hollow voice with deep yet articulate lows, while retaining the signature MüB clarity and snap. In one word: huge.
